Overseas Investments Taj signs management contract for UAE project Our Bureau Mumbai, Jan. 12 Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces, a part of the Tata Group, has signed a management contract with Saraya Islands, an upcoming mixed-use resort destination in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. The group will be operating its Taj Exotica Resort & Spa under the project, the first phase of which is expected to open in 2011. Taj already has an operational property in West Asia under Taj Palace Hotel in Dubai. However, its first Exotica will commence operations by end 2009 on Palm Island; Jumaira in Dubai, the other of its forays would include a property in Qatar and Golf Resort Taj Exotica in Doha. The company is open to having more properties in West Asia, Mr Ajoy Misra, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, told newspersons on the sidelines of a press conference. Saraya Islands is a seven-kilometre-long natural island running parallel to the Ras Al Khaimah coastline thereby creating a natural lagoon between the project and mainland. The island is being developed by the Investment and Development Office of the Government Ras Al Khaimah, Saraya Holdings and a subsidiary of Arab Bank Plc, along with Saraya Real Estate MENA Fund. Taj’s property will be one of the six luxury hotels to come up in the island. The hotel will include 180 guest rooms including suites, 30 bungalows, two restaurants, conference facilities, spa and health club. More Stories on : Overseas Investments | Hotels
