WebEx bullish on enterprise market

V. Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad, Jan. 13 WebEx, now part of networking technology major Cisco Systems, is bullish on the Indian enterprise market with its range of unified communications solutions.

The company manages about 36 data centres globally, including one in India, and believes the market for “rich media” communication is poised for rapid growth with enterprises seeking ways to bring down costs. The WebEx MediaTone platform will help cut communication costs and travel time needed for presentations, says Mr Kiran Datar, Managing Director of WebEx Communications India.

He told Business Line that after IT and BPO (business process outsourcing) companies, the solutions are being adopted in telecom, retail and even manufacturing. Several small and medium enterprises too are adopting them.

The parallel platform enables collaboration through voice, video and text-enhancing communication experience, as also tele-presence. Different sectors, including retail and consumer applications, are using it to communicate with dispersed workforce.

Enterprises are not required to invest in technology as the solutions are provided through the MediaTone platform as an on-demand hosted solution. This actually creates a parallel network for companies, Mr Datar said.
