Godrej Consumer Q3 net rises 13%

Mumbai, Jan. 17 Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) has recorded a 13 per cent increase in net profit for the third quarter ending December 31, 2007.

Net profit increased from Rs 36.63 crore to Rs 41.4 crore during the quarter, which witnessed a 6 per cent increase in its soap prices. Net sales increased by 16 per cent from Rs 197 crore to Rs 229 crore during the period.

Soaps segment

According to a company release, Godrej Consumer continues to be the second largest player in the toilet soaps segment, with a market share of 9.7 per cent for Q3, as its brands Cinthol and Godrej No. 1 continued to perform well.

During the quarter, GCPL made a foray into the shampoo segment where its Godrej No.1 Almond Shampoo was test launched in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
