GoM meet on fuel price deferred

New Delhi, Jan. 19

Any decision on a possible auto fuel price hike can now be expected only next week, as the scheduled meeting of the Group of Minister (GoM) on fuel prices on Saturday could not take place. According to sources, since four of the seven members of the GoM were not available, the meeting has been put off. The GoM, headed by the External Affairs Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, is to decide on possible options, including the auto fuel price hike, to curb the impact of volatile i nternational crude prices on the profitability of state-owned oil marketing companies. The first meeting of the GoM held on Thursday had remained inconclusive.
