Cover to be increased under ESI scheme

The Andhra Pradesh Government has approved a plan to raise the insurance cover for all the insured under the ESI (Employees State Insurance) scheme to Rs 2 lakh from the current Rs 1 lakh for major ailments referred to super specialty hospitals.

Giving nod for the proposal at a review meeting here on Monday, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, asked the officials to put up a file in this regard.

He also agreed to allot 10 acres to set up ESI hospitals at Sullurpet, a Government release said.
