Environment Marketing - Strategy States - Andhra Pradesh Incentive-based approach to pollution control soon
Cash rewards and other incentives to be given to the tahsildars reporting about polluting organisations Stringent action against individuals and industries polluting the surroundings. Tirumala to be made a no plastic zone Our Bureau Hyderabad, Jan. 22 If you notice any source of pollution, it pays to inform the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB). The board would be providing incentives to people who give vital information on polluting industries or any other sources of pollution. The Chief Minister Dr Y. S. Rajasekhra Reddy has asked APPCB to adopt an incentive-based approach to curb pollution coupled with a stringent action on individuals/industries polluting the surroundings at a review with board officials here on Tuesday. RewardsDr Reddy also suggested that cash rewards and other incentives should be given to the tahsildars who report about polluting organisations and industries (including those owned by the Government). The toll-free, three-digit number should be allotted to the public for complaining about pollution, he added. Ms Janaki Kondapi, Member Secretary, APPCB informed the Chief Minister that the board had identified 8,594 industries out of which 3,021 were under red category, 4,509 under orange category and 1,064 under green category. Dr Reddy also suggested that Tirumala should be made a no plastic zone. In Visakhapatnam, the norm of maintaining a 500-acre green belt near Ramky Pharma City should be strictly adhered to, he added. South-South PartnershipMeanwhile, a high-level delegation from Uganda, Tanzania and the World Bank had also called on the Chief Minister, after visiting Mandal Samakhya office of Elkadurthy, Kamlapur and BD Pally of Karimnagar district. They interacted with the self-help groups, differently-abled persons, village organisations and procurement committee members. Some of the programmes introduced by the State Government for rural development and poverty eradication should be emulated in third-world countries, it told Dr Reddy. The delegation consisted of Mr David Wakikoma, Minister of State for Northern Uganda Rehabilitation, Mr Suleiman Namara, Task Team Leader, World Bank and Mr Krishna Pidatala, Co-ordinator, South-South Learning Partnership, among others.
