Tata Chem unit launches BPO

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Jan 22 Tata Chemicals said its social services unit has started a pilot BPO called ‘UDAY’ at Mithapur where the company’s own facilities are located.

Tata Chemicals’ Society for Rural Development has set up this project, in collaboration with SerWizSol, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Ltd. ‘UDAY’ intends to leverage information and communication technologies to generate employment for the local population, said a statement from the company. A satellite centre to handle Gujarat-based calls at Mithapur is being planned. This will hire around 70 to 100 people initially, and will scale up to 200 as per availability.
