Call to explore potential of dental research

Our Bureau

Mangalore, Jan. 27 The full potential of dental research in India is yet to be explored, according to Dr Anil Kohli, President of the Dental Council of India.

Inaugurating the 61st Indian Dental Conference, organised by the Dakshina Kannada branch of the Indian Dental Association, here on Friday evening, he said that the country has large patient base and good brains in dentistry. In such a situation, more attention should be paid to dental research in the country. Keeping this in mind, publication of papers will be made mandatory for promotions in dental colleges, he said.

Opening the trade exhibition at the conference, Mr B. Sambamurthy, Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank, said that there is a need to provide basic health care and banking service to the vast majority of people in the country.

This is a common challenge being faced by the healthcare and banking sector in the country, he added.
