Piaggio launches `ape truck'

Visakhapatnam, Jan. 29

Piaggio India launched its four-wheeler cargo vehicle, ape truck, here on Tuesday. At the launch, Mr Pravin Parab, Deputy General Manager (Sales), said the company wants to sell 5,000 sub one-tonne fourwheelers this year. An exclusive showroom for the vehicle was also inaugurated. He said that more than 6 lakh customers had bought ape three-wheelers and the response to the four-wheeler was equally good in South India. Priced at Rs 2.2 lakh (ex-showroom), the vehicle was launched only a few months ago. Mr Parab said the company's manufacturing unit at Baramati near Pune had a capacity of producing 2 lakh three-wheelers per annum and 24,000 four-wheelers. - Our Bureau
