Navaraga Info unveils collaborative Web solution

In talks with enterprise users to offer these services here

Hyderabad, Jan. 30 A Seattle-headquartered subsidiary of the Hyderabad-based technology start-up Navaraga Information Technologies has announced the launch of Komune (for commune), a new collaborative Web service.

The company offers this service through its portal for registered enterprise users. This is either through licence for a specific number of users or as a service for enterprise customers that enables them to create a virtual room and communicate.

The President and Chief Executive Officer of Navaraga, Mr Raja Abburi, said the company is in the process of offering these services in India and is in negotiations with about a dozen enterprise users.

A veteran at Microsoft, Mr Abburi earlier served as general manager for MSN Messenger and Outlook Express and was engaged with Windows 95 and 98 and Digital Rights Management products.

Shared context

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Abburi said “the Komune service uses a metaphor of virtual places for interaction and organisation, which is designed to make communication and coordination more natural while also maintaining shared context.”

A room or a system houses all of the information pertaining to a specific project and provides a common location for multiple work groups or team members to review updates and contribute content. This makes it easy for teams spread out to work together.

The project now is offered for text communication and the company is in the process of developing audio and video interface, which it expects to rollout within six months, he said.
