Globsyn biz school to open Ahmedabad campus in June

Our Bureau

Ahmedabad, Jan. 30 Kolkata-based Globsyn Business School (GBS) will start its Ahmedabad campus with admissions in June this year to provide “industry-ready” manpower.

From next year, GBS plans to open one campus each year in different cities in India and abroad. To begin with, the Ahmedabad campus, second after Kolkata, would have an intake of 60 students for the flagship two-year post-graduate diploma in management (PGDM) programme for the 2008-10 session, selected on the basis of their performance in the business schools’ Common Admission Test (CAT).

Subsequently, other courses would also be introduced, Mr R.C. Bhattacharya, Director, told reporters here on Tuesday.

One major criterion for selecting the candidates will be their family background and upbringing. “We want to ensure that our students come with a certain background in the family and take this course as a two-year training in industry.”

Although the course fee for the two-year period at Kolkata is Rs 4.50 lakh, the Ahmedabad campus would charge Rs 3.75 lakh as introductory fee for PGDM, he said. The Ahmedabad campus will be optionally residential.

Mr Bhattacharya maintained that GBS was India’s “first corporate business school” that would review its curricula annually and keep track of its students even after they pass out and get placed.

Founded in 1997 by Mr Bikram Dasgupta, Chairman and Managing Director of Globsyn Technologies, GBS is using Knowledge Finishing School (KFS) framework and has academic relations with a number of institutions in India and abroad, he added.
