Dabur Pharma Q3 net, revenues down
Our Bureau,
New Delhi, Jan. 30 Dabur Pharma’s net profit for the third quarter have declined marginally to Rs 8.26 crore as against Rs 8.9 crore reported during the quarter ended December 31, 2006. The oncology maker’s revenues also slipped by about 15 per cent to Rs 65 crore (Rs 76.62 crore).
The company said the fall in sales reflected the sale of Dabur Pharma’s non-oncology business in April, 2007. The appreciation of the rupee vis-À-vis the dollar also affected the company’s figures.
The EBITDA was up 13 per cent to Rs 15.77 crore during the quarter. “Our global expansion in the field of oncology has started generating positive returns. This coupled with the strong foundation that we are laying in this therapeutic area should help us achieve a leadership position amongst oncology companies worldwide,” said Mr Ajay Kumar Vij, Chief Executive Officer, Dabur Pharma, in a release.
The global oncology market, currently estimated at $20-25 billion, is expected to reach $50-60 billion in the next 7-10 years, and generics should grab $8-12 billion of this business from the expiry of patents over the next 5-7 years.
