Roadways States - Andhra Pradesh APSRTC clocks Rs 126-cr profit Our Bureau Hyderabad, Jan. 31 The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has registered a profit of Rs 126.42 crore in the nine-month period, which ended on December 31, 2007. This was against a profit of Rs 40.59 crore in the same period last year and a loss of Rs 181.47 crore in 2002-03. occupancy ratioThe occupancy ratio has gone up to 70 per cent during 2007-08 compared to 68 per cent during 2006-07. Among major States, only Rajasthan could achieve this sort of occupancy, officials of the department told Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister, at a review meeting here on Thursday. Occupancy rates for transport utilities of other States are as follows: Maharashtra (46 per cent); Karnataka (67 per cent); and Gujarat (61 per cent). Recruitment driveThe Chief Minister has agreed in-principle to allow the utility to fill up vacant posts through direct recruitment in all essential categories. He directed the Finance Department to release Rs 100 crore to Road Transport Corporation to compensate for travel concessions given to commuters belonging to various sections, a Government release said.
