Mundra Port handles 20.3 mt cargo in 9 mths; net at Rs 122 cr

Ahmedabad, Jan 31 The Mundra port and SEZ Ltd (MPSEZ) handled 20.3 million tonnes of cargo in the nine months of fiscal 2007-08 as against 19.8 mt in the entire fiscal 2006-07.

Thus cargo handled in the nine months has exceeded the cargo volumes achieved in FY 2006-07. Altogether 1,169 vessels called at the port in the nine months of 2007-08 as against 1,138 in the FY 2006-07, the company said in a release here.

For the nine months ended December 31, 2007, MPSEZ’s total income was Rs.496.5 crore and the net profit after tax was Rs.122.3 crore. For the 12 months’ period of FY 2006-07, the company’s total income was Rs 587.2 crore and net profit after tax Rs.187.4 crore.

The EBITDA margin for the nine months of FY 2007-08 was 62 per cent while for FY 2006-07 it was 54 per cent.

There are no corresponding comparable figures. Hence, the figures for the current years are of nine months and that of previous year are for 12 months, the release added.

MPSEZ allotted 40.25 million equity shares in the IPO at Rs 440 per share, which were listed on November 27, 2007, on BSE and NSE.
