Mumbai, Jan. 31 Global transportation major Bombardier Inc has shown interest in investing in aerospace and railway infrastructure in Maharashtra. The State Government has held discussion with the company’s management for setting up manufacturing facility in the State. The Maharashtra Chief Minister, Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh, who recently attended the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland and made a business tour of Germany, disclosed this at a press conference on Thursday. Due to the huge demand from Mumbai-Delhi rail corridor, Bombardier could set up a wagon and locomotive manufacturing facility in the State.

Bombardier is the global leader in the rail equipment manufacturing and servicing industry. Its wide range of products include passenger rail vehicles and total transit systems. It also manufactures locomotives, bogies, propulsion & controls and provides rail control solutions.

Mr Deshmukh said that during his visit to Germany, Siemens AG also signed a MoU with the State Government for setting up a software and R&D centre in the State. The company would announce the quantum of investment after the board meeting.
