India Cements buys ship

Chennai, Jan. 29 India Cements Ltd has purchased the first of the two ships it has planned to buy for captive coal transportation.

According to information provided by the company to the stock exchange, India Cements Ltd has acquired a 41,824 DWT bulk cargo carrier from Markbright Marine Ltd, Cyprus.

The company had announced the plan to purchase the ships as a part of a Rs 1,450-crore expansion plan that would see its cement production capacity double to 18 million tonnes by 2009-10.
