Maytas Infra Ltd (Maytas) has decided to diversify into three new areas — mining, manufacture of construction material and advisory and consultancy services.

The Hyderabad-based infrastructure major has logged a net profit of Rs 32.36 crore on a turnover of Rs 526.50 crore and an EBITDA of Rs 78.88 crore for the third quarter of fiscal 2007-08.

For the nine months period of the current fiscal, the company has reported a turnover of Rs 1,070.06 crore with an EBITDA of Rs 153.65 crore and net profit of Rs 83.34 crore.

The performance of the company for the comparative quarter of fiscal 2006-07 has not been given as Maytas Infra was an unlisted company, a press release said.

Maytas Infra, which is into construction and infrastructure, raised Rs 327.45 crore through an initial public offering in September 2007.

It has utilised Rs 120 crore and the balance has been invested temporarily in working capital limits, mutual funds etc, the company said.

The CEO, Mr P.K. Madhav, said the third quarter results were inline with the projections for the year. With the presence in construction and BOT (build, operate and transfer) space, the company plans to diversify and emerge as a top infrastructure player.
