Samsung launching new digicams, plans more stores

New Delhi, Feb.4 Samsung India will be launching a spate of high-end gadgets to stay in tune with market demands. With connectivity as the main focus for the year, the company will introduce high definition camcorders and still cameras in the Indian market this year and increase its brand store numbers to 200 from 115.

“These high-end digital products will have the capability of recording high definition videos and still images, which can be then connected to high definition displays. Samsung is planning to introduce its NV24 HD – a 10 mega-pixel point and-shoot digital camera capable of shooting high-definition video soon,” Mr R Zutshi, Deputy Managing Director, said.

The company has a market share of seven per cent in the digital camera.

It is eyeing a 14 per cent share and is also tapping large format stores to push up sales.

On the whole, it hopes that the consumer electronic business will contribute about 35 per cent to its India turnover.

Mr Zutshi said that the next generation of consumer electronics products will be defined not just by the largest screen, clear sound and high resolutions but also complete and connected user experience, he said.

On LCDs, a fast growing segment in India, Mr Zutshi said it has introduced the F8 series which has a features like better contrast ratios and 3 HDMI connections that allow the user to connect this TV with blu-ray players, gaming consoles.

Samsung India also plans to strengthen its home theatre offering this year by launching its new, advanced range, including its flagship HT-X810 Home Theatre Sound Bar.
