Prithvi Info secures Rs 309-cr BSNL order

Hyderabad, Feb. 4 Prithvi Information Solutions Ltd has secured a Rs 309-crore multi-year order from the State-owned telecom Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd to supply and support transmission equipment that helps increase network bandwidth.

The project is to be implemented in eight months.The company has tied up with Chinese gear maker Huawei Technologies Ltd to source the equipment and then customise it for BSNL. Prithvi will be responsible for embedding the Networking Maintenance Software (NMS), assembling, quality check along with the maintenance of the equipment for the next five years.

The Chairperson of Prithvi, Ms Madhavi Vupalapatti, told Business Line the association of Prithvi with Huawei is expected to generate more software and IT solutions business from other global telecom companies.

With this order, Prithvi marks its entry into the domestic telecom space. The company’s order book in the telecom space was at Rs 203 crore as on December 2007. Other orders include that from T-Mobile and Cingular worth Rs 183 crore in the US.

The company shares ended the day higher at Rs 329 (the previous close was at Rs 305.95) on the NSE.
