TN: Samba paddy purchase

Nagapattinam, Feb. 5 Procurement of samba paddy by the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation in the Cauvery delta region of Nagapattinam district has crossed 75,000 tonnes on Monday and the average daily arrival of paddy to the Direct Purchase Centres was about 6,500 tonnes. A senior official of the TNCSC said on Monday that the TNCSC had opened 221 DPCs in several parts of the district and was offering Rs 825 per quintal for Grade A variety paddy and Rs.795 for common variety with moisture content up to 17 per cent under the decentralised procurement system of the Centre. The price includes an incentive of Rs.100 per quintal. The TNCSC is also purchasing paddy with moisture content up to 20 per cent with four to five per cent damages subject to a grade cut in the price. —
