Tea Steady trend at Kochi tea sale Our Bureau Kochi, Feb. 8 There was good demand at the Kochi tea auction and high priced CTC dust varieties remained steady. Medium and plainer CTC were steady to dearer. There was 7,90,000 kg of dust tea on offer at the auction. Orthodox medium and high grown varieties were steady, while medium CTC witnessed good enquiry from exporters. Domestic market operators remained selective, even as blenders were fairly active in the market. Best CTC varieties fetched Rs 62-73, medium CTC realised Rs 54-63 while below medium was at Rs 47-52. High grown BOPD varieties quoted at Rs 122, medium BOPD fetched Rs 47-49 and secondaries quoted Rs 41-43. Leaf auctionPrices of good high grown varieties remained firm while other high grown quoted lower. Fannings remained steady while medium whole leaf grades were firm to dearer. Medium broken and fannings were also steady following quality. Prices of CTC varieties eased by Rs 1-2. Good high grown variety witnessed export enquiry from exporters to the Gulf countries. Other exporters remained selective. Best Nilgiri varieties quoted Rs 90-190, medium orthodox ranged at Rs 55-70 and plain orthodox was at Rs 43-48.
