Hasbro Clothing entering Maldives

M. Somasekhar

Hyderabad, Feb. 12 Hasbro Clothing, the Chennai-based fashion apparel maker, is all set to enter the Maldives, with its exclusive menswear store.

The 1,200-sq ft store in Maldives would be launched by the end of this month.

The company is also exploring opportunities in Malaysia, according to Mr Suhail Sattar, Director.

International forays

For the apparel company, whose products now reach the Gulf markets through multi brand outlets (MBOs) and Sri Lanka (exclusive store), the foray would be yet another bold move into international markets.

Having built strengths in South India, the Rs 60-crore company is now expanding into the North and East in the next one year.

It plans to open 20 to 30 exclusive outlets across the country this year, Mr Sattar said.

The company’s 1.5 million-units per annum manufacturing capacity in Chennai would suffice to meet all the expansion initiatives contemplated in the near term, he told Business Line here.

Domestic marketing

Its three menswear brands — Genesis, Basics and Probase have been positioned in a network of 35 exclusive stores and 490 MBOs and retail stores.

In Andhra Pradesh, Hasbro Clothing wants to launch atleast 10 stores in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur and Visakhapatnam. At present, it has 4 exclusive stores in Hyderabad.

“Our plan is to have four more stores in Hyderabad, and two or three each in the other cities. Each store is typically between 800 to 1,400 sq ft depending on the location.” Sattar said.
