New Delhi, Feb. 14

Maruti Suzuki on Thursday said that its popular hatchback car Alto crossed the one millionth mark. This makes it Maruti’s third car to have reached the milestone after its flagship models Maruti 800 and Omni. Since the Alto was launched in 2000, the company has also exported 1.5 lakh units. “Alto has crossed the million units mark in just seven years and five months since its launch. Of this, the last 5 lakh units have been sold in last 25 months,” said a company statement. Alto is sold in three variants – Standard, Alto Lx and Alto Lxi with the top end Lxi outselling the other, the company said. —
