IDEA adds 1.2 million subscribers in AP

Hyderabad, Feb. 14 IDEA Cellular, the telecom service provider, has announced 1.2 million additions on its wireless network, the highest market share gain of 1.7 per cent seen across all telecom operators in Andhra Pradesh during the fiscal 2007-08.

The company has registered consistent growth over the last nine months, and has crossed over 3 million wireless subscribers during the financial year 2007-08 in Andhra Pradesh, taking the total wireless subscriber base across 11 operating circles to over 22 million.

This milestone achievement has been possible due to the rapid roll out of network coupled with matching investments to expand the telecom infrastructure.

Enhancing quality

As a part of the ongoing commitment to customer service, IDEA will further enhance its network quality in key locations by increasing the cell sites. The network of IDEA is currently available in over 1,500 towns of Andhra Pradesh, according to a press release.

Mr Subbaraman Iyer, Chief Operating Officer, Andhra Pradesh, IDEA Cellular, said, “The huge demand for telecom services in the Indian market coupled with our superior value-added product offerings have ensured that a large proportion of new subscribers prefer IDEA services.”
