Adecco India in talks for more acquisitions

Pune, Feb. 16 Adecco India, the Indian arm of the €20.4-billion human resource services major Adecco SA, will be making at least a couple of more acquisitions, and expects to cross Rs 500 crore in revenues during this year.

Mr Sudhakar Balakrishnan, CEO, Adecco India, said the company, which acquired the Pune-based Ajinkya, a staffing company focussed on blue-collar temping earlier this month, was currently in talks with a couple of Mumbai-based organisations, and would make at least two, mostly HR related, acquisitions soon.

“Globally, temping is 4-5 per cent of the working population, while in India, it is insignificant. So the opportunity is huge,” he said, adding, “In five years, I expect this to be a million each in both the office and industry space.”

He said the focus in India has been on white collar staffing that is today a mature segment. “Today, industrial staffing is a highly fragmented and unorganised segment. We estimate, for every one person who is placed through an organised player, 25 are placed by small players and contractors.”
