New Delhi, Feb. 17

The European Naval Defence Systems organisation, the DCNS Group, announced the setting up of its Indian subsidiary on Sunday. In a statement, the company said that the subsidiary — DCNS India — will be established in Mumbai and be operational by the middle of the year.

“The subsidiary will be oriented towards design, service to naval shipyards and sourcing of components, and materials in the Indian industry. This company will operate for current projects such as Scorpene submarines,” said Mr Xavier Marchal, President, India.

The Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, DCNS Group, Mr Bernard Planchais, said the opening of an Indian subsidiary was part of a strategy aimed at increasing the Group’s industrial activity here. “We are also actively looking for partners in India for developing major equipments and subsystems,” he added.

DCNS has already signed agreements with Kirloskar Oil Engine Ltd for Integrated Platform Management Systems and with Walchandnagar Industries Ltd for P28 Propulsion system parts, the statement adds.
