Satyam eyes larger pie in life sciences

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Feb. 22

IT services provider Satyam Computer Services is eyeing a larger pie out of the global life sciences outsourcing market.

The company has about 6 per cent of the business coming out of this area, and believes that this segment has potential for further upside with large global corporations seeking to outsource drug discovery research and related technology driven processes.

As a part of the strategy to consolidate this business, the company on Friday announced the establishment of the Life Sciences Centre of Excellence here, inaugurated by the company Chairman, Mr B. Ramalinga Raju, on the sidelines of Life Sciences conclave.

Addressing a press conference here today, the Satyam President for Commercial and Healthcare Business, Mr Ram Mynampati, said customers have moved ahead from the traditional services model. They are now looking at services providers to help identify tomorrow’s business challenges and collaborate proactively in developing solutions and frameworks which deliver faster and ensure better return on investments.

The Satyam’s Life Sciences centre addresses life sciences sector needs in the areas of clinical drug accountability, drug counterfeiting, cell line management systems, analytics, clinical development, and bioinformatics.
