Ad fest to kick off in Goa on April 3

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Feb. 25 The annual advertising festival held in Goa by the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) will kick off on April 3. Goafest 2008 will feature the Abby awards for advertising excellence from the Ad Club Bombay.

Mr Madhukar Kamath, President, AAAI, says, “Last year nearly 2,300 delegates attended, of which, over 800 were under 30. This year we expect this number to increase substantially… The coming together of AAAI and Ad Club is a landmark event made possible by the desire of the entire industry to have one award and one glorious festival.”

The President of Ad Club Bombay, Mr Bhaskar Das, says, “The industry is witnessing challenging times for which we need to focus our priorities on doing things in a collaborative manner and not dissipate energy through frictional losses.”

Like last year, Goafest will be held at the Cavelossim Beach, Goa, in a specially created ‘Advillage’.

The festival will begin with an ‘industry conclave’ in which advertising and media professionals will debate issues and challenges facing the industry. The media awards will be presented on April 4; the Abby advertising awards will be presented on April 5.

Some of the speakers this year are Mr Garrick Hamm, creative partner, Williams Murray Hamm; Mr Donald Gunn of the famous Gunn Report on advertising; Mr Craig Davis, worldwide creative chief JWT; and Mr Stephen Gatfield, Chief Executive Officer, Lowe Worldwide.
