Visakhapatnam, Feb. 26

Reacting to the Railway Budget, Mr T. Subbarami Reddy, Union Minister of State for Mines, said here in a press release on Tuesday that the introduction of the garib rath from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad was a welcome move. He said the Union Railway Ministry might have considered introduction of more trains from Andhra Pradesh besides more facilities. The State Government had sought three more passenger trains, seven express trains and an extension of three trains besides 10 road overbridges, he said. He said he would pursue the matter with the Railway Minister. He felt that there was a need for night train directly from here to Kolkata and Chennai. Mr M.V.V Murthi, former member of Lok Sabha, said it was a highly disappointing budget for Visakhapatnam, the sole saving grace being the introduction of garib rath. “At least, the garib rath should run daily instead of thrice a week,” he added.
