Hyderabad, Feb. 26

Kernex Microsystems, a key manufacturer of anti-collision devices and safety systems, anticipates a larger role with the Indian Railways in major projects in the next financial year.

With the Union Railway Minister emphasising focus on security systems for South Western, South Central and Southern Railways over the next three years, as a partner for Konkan Railways we see potential for deploying anti-collision devices, said Col. L.V. Raju, Managing Director of the company.

“While it would not be proper to quantify the actual impact on the company, we see immense potential for safety devices and axle control systems all of which offer opportunities for us to be engaged with,” he said.

The Hyderabad-based Kernex is also likely to pitch for Hot Bed Detection Systems and Infrared Rail Fraud Detection Systems, which has become a priority investment area.

‘Boost for pvt sector’

Describing the Railway Budget as progressive that addresses all segments including focus on infrastructure, he said that the role of private sector in development has received a big boost.

Col. Raju told Business Line while the private sector participation in many railway projects is increasing gradually over the years, the Budget presented today by the Rail Minister, Mr Lalu Prasad, provides a much needed thrust by crystallising some of the plans.
