Infosys, vendor for Cummins

Bangalore, Feb. 27

Infosys Technologies Ltd said on Wednesday that Cummins Inc, which designs, manufactures and sells diesel engines and related technologies, named Infosys as one of three global preferred vendors (GPVs) for IT application outsourcing and business consulting services. This new partnership will bolster Cummins' operations so it may handle the growing global demand for power technologies and components. Together, the Cummins and Infosys team will deploy IT solutions that will help Cummins grow to more than $20 billion in revenue over the next several years.

Mr Gail Farnsley, CIO, Cummins, said: "We selected Infosys because it ranked as the top partner candidate capable of meeting and exceeding our transformational performance expectations."

Cummins, which serves customers in more than 160 countries, launched an effort in January 2007 to identify its GPVs. Infosys was the only new company selected during the process, the company said in a statement. - Our Burea
