SCR earnings at Rs 5,483 cr

Hyderabad, Feb. 27 The South Central Railway (SCR) has recorded apportioned earnings of Rs 5,483.61 crore for the 10 months (up to January 2008) period for the present fiscal, as against Rs 4,717 crore in the same period last year, showing a growth of 16.25 per cent.

The operating ratio (the ratio of expenditure and revenues) was put at 68.50 per cent as against 70.60 per cent in the same period last year.

Of the total earnings, goods segment contributed Rs 3,867.60 crore as against Rs 3,341.57 crore. The passenger segment earned Rs 1,461 crore (Rs 1,214 crore), Mr H.K. Padhee, General Manager, said.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said the zone recorded originating freight loading of 57.20 million tonnes (Rs 49.74 mt), an increase of 7.45 per cent.
