Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 28 The Virgin King has landed in God’s Own Country. Sir Richard Branson, the founder and President of the Virgin Atlantic Group, and his family are holidaying in Kerala.

Sir Richard, his wife Joan and son Sam, who arrived here by a private jet on Tuesday, have spent the last couple of days at The Leela Kempinski Kovalam Beach resort near the city. On Thursday, the Branson family spent the day on a houseboat cruising through the Ashtamudi backwaters near Kollam, a town north of Thiruvananthapuram.

Sir Richard is expected to announce details of the Virgin Atlantic Group’s Indian telecom venture in the next few days.

Earlier this week, Virgin Atlantic Airways operated its first flight using bio-fuel.

The Boeing 747-400 aircraft flew from London Heathrow to Amsterdam, with one of its four engines using 20 per cent bio-fuel.

The bio-fuel was made from a blend of coconut and babassu nut oil.

There were no passengers on the flight.
