Spot rubber rules steady

Kottayam, March 1 Physical rubber prices finished almost steady in the weekend session. The market activities were in a low pace and sheet rubber closed flat at Rs 101 a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi as on Friday. The April futures for RSS 4 weakened to Rs 103.03 from Rs 103.50 a kg on MCX. On NMCE, the March contract downed the shutters at Rs 100.52 (100.85), April at Rs 103.62 (103.76), May at Rs 105.53 (105.48) and June contract at Rs 107.55 (106.29) per kg for RSS 4. The volumes were 735 (890) tonnes.

The open interest slipped to 6,914 (7,075) tonnes with 3,818 (3,984) tonnes in March, 2,069 (2,071) tonnes in April, 686 (688) tonnes in May and 341 (332) tonnes in June.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 101 (101); RSS-5: 99.50 (99.50); ungraded: 97 (97); ISNR 20: 99.25 (99) and latex 60 per cent: 70 (68).
