Software Marketing - New Products & Services Microsoft unveils 3 products
Our Bureau Hyderabad, March 4 Microsoft Corporation India has launched Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2008 assuring enterprises a new technology experience. These three products enable Dynamic IT, a platform for IT infrastructure and application technologies that adapt to changing business conditions. Significantly, all the three products have been co-developed with their research and development teams based out of their R&D centre in Hyderabad. While Windows Server 2008, including a beta version of the Hyper-V virtualisation technology, and Visual Studio 2008 are now available, SQL Server 2008 is expected in the third quarter of 2008. Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 are key products in the company’s strategy to promote interoperability and choice for customers and developers. The Senior Vice-President, Microsoft Corporation, Mr S. Somasegar, said here on Tuesday “organisations spend more than 70 per cent of their IT budgets and resources on maintaining existing infrastructure. The focus for this launch is to allow businesses to provide them with tools to focus on new capabilities, rather than straining to maintain existing infrastructure.” The Chief Operating Officer of Microsoft India, Mr Dough Hauger, said the Microsoft India Development Centre (MSIDC) at Hyderabad had played a key role in the development of each of these products. In India, Allahabad Bank, Kotak Bank, Larsen & Toubro-ECC, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Sahara India, The Chembur Nagrik Sahakari Bank Limited and TVS Motors are some of the early adopters of these products. In the contest “Heroes Happen Here,” 900 technologists participated and over 10,000 developers submitted their votes. Based on these, Rajesh Shirpuram from Spadeworx, Saravanan Rajappa from TCS and Rizwan Ahmed, have been chosen. They are now headed to the Microsoft headquarters in Redmond.
