2 rly freight terminals to come up in Bengal

Our Bureau

Kolkata, March 5 Two railway freight terminals in West Bengal, one each at Dankuni and Sankrail, will be set up by Eastern Railway and South Eastern Railway respectively.

There will also be a logistics park at Dankuni to meet the projected increase in traffic at Dankuni.

The increased traffic will result from the extension of the eastern arm of the proposed dedicated freight corridor to Dankuni.

Giving this information to newspersons here on Wednesday, Mr K.C. Jena, Chairman of the Railway Board, said a consultant would be appointed shortly to work out an integrated scheme in regard to creation of railway facilities in the State. The locations of the new passenger terminals would be finalised on the basis of the recommendations of the consultant’s report.
