SBI foreign dept shifting opposed

Kolkata, March 10

Employees and officers of State Bank of India’s Foreign Department here under the banners of State Bank of India Officers’ Association and State Bank of India Staff Association have been staging agitation for the past few days protesting against the shifting of the entire department to Mumbai. “The shifting will reduce the department here to a mere skeleton,” according to the association sources. “Also, the shifting will be in violation of the provisions of the agreement signed in this regard on January 12, 2000, between the bank management and the SBI Officers’ and Staff Federations.” When contacted, the Chief General Manager of State Bank of India, Bengal Circle, declined to comment.
