Export orders for 60,000 i10 cars

New Delhi, March 11

In just four months, since the launch of the global compact car, i10 by Hyundai Motor India Ltd, the company has bagged an export order of 60,000 units. “HMIL started accepting export orders for the i10 from December 2007 and received 60,000 orders from the overseas market, creating a record of clocking the fastest 50,000 units of export orders in just three months. The company would ship around 26,000 units by March 2008,” said a company statement. Hyundai Mot or India’s compact car i10 made a global debut in October end last year. Post its launch in the country, i10 was premiered in Europe at the Bologna Motor Show, Italy in December, 2007 and was also displayed at the Geneva Motor Show in January 2008. Hyundai that is manufacturing its premium compact car only from Chennai also said that it would export the car in over 90 countries by the end of the year. Currently, the company is conducting a training programme for its top officials from 21 countries to sell the car in their respective markets.
