Bangalore, March 12 In a gesture that could brighten up the lives of mentally challenged children, a former executive of Air India has opened a special school that will provide simple computer skills to the children studying in a neighbouring school in Hunsemardapalaya near Bangalore.

Awakening, the special school, has been set up with financial assistance from the Reuters Foundation. It will provide computer skills to students of Krishna Chaitanya School for Mentally Retarded Children.

The students will be provided with simple skills based on a syllabus prepared specially for the student by a leading international IT company.

Capt. Mahesh, retired Deputy Director of Operations, Air India, who initiated the project, said, “We wanted to give these teenagers dignity and a chance in the world. We are teaching them simple computer skills.”
