Hyderabad, March 13

Eyeing a huge, captive business at the upcoming airport at Hyderabad, the Mumbai-based V-Link Taxis Private Ltd has lined up 800 radio taxis under the brand name ‘Meru’ for these two airports.

While the company earmarked 350 cabs to exclusively serve passengers commuting to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, the company would spare 50 more for transport within the city.

The services in Bangalore too would be ready by the time the airport gets ready for commercial operations, according to Mr Prateek Roongta of India Value Fund (IVF).

IVF, a leading private equity fund with investments to the tune of $600 million, has picked equity of Rs 50 crore in V-Link.

At present, the company is operating a fleet of 500 cabs in Mumbai. “By March 31, we will have a stable of 1,500.

In the next phase, we will be opening the services in Delhi, Chandigarh, Kolkata and Pune,” the Managing Director, Mr Neeraj Gutpta, added.
