DP World Chennai inducts 4 RTGs at Chennai terminal

Chennai, March 17 DP World Chennai, part of the Dubai-based DP World, has inducted four new Rubber Tyre Gantry (RTGs) at the Chennai container terminal. The new RTGs costing Rs 38 crore was procured from Gulf Port Cranes, Abu Dhabi.

Mr Ennarasu Karnuesan, CEO, DP World Chennai, said the terminal is gearing up to handle around 1.30 million TEUs (twenty foot equivalent units) this calendar year.

The new RTGs will ensure that the trailers and vessels are turned around in the quickest possible time.

The terminal already has a fleet of 24 RTGs, including some older ones.

Vertically, the new equipment is capable of reaching a stacking high of six containers.
