JSW Steel unveils CRM complex

Mumbai, March 17

JSW Steel inaugurated a one-million tonne capacity cold rolling mill (CRM) complex on Monday at its Vijayanagar works to address the requirements of the automobile and component industry. Built in 22 months, it is a forward integration of existing facilities where hot rolled coils are cold rolled to produce high-end cold rolled sheets. An electrolytic cleaning line, to come up with the main plant, will ensure stringent surface quality, JSW Steel said in a release. JSW Steel plans to scale up its production capacity to 7 mtpa by 2008 and reach 10 mtpa by 2010. The facility was inaugurated by Dr J.J. Irani, Director, Tata Sons. - Our Bureau
