India has set itself a target to boost trade volumes with the ASEAN countries to $50 billion, up from the present $20 billion. The proposed free-trade agreement with the ASEAN countries will facilitate this process by opening up market for many Indian products, especially auto-components, Mr Sanjeev Nandwani, Joint Director-General for Foreign Trade said here on Thursday at a seminar organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries. Mr Sandipan Chakravortty, Managing Deirector, Tata Ryerson said, “Many ASEAN countries such as Malaysia are keen on sourcing auto components from India. India is fast moving towards being an auto-component hub, with Chennai already figuring in the map and West Bengal getting ready to be included in the near future”. — Our Bureau
