Tea Drop in volumes at Kochi tea auction Our Bureau Kochi, April 3 Arrivals of both dust and leaf teas fell at the Kochi tea auction. Only 8,82,000 kg of dust tea and 2,35,000 kg of leaf tea were available for the auction. Best liquoring and popular CTC dust varieties were dearer by Re 1-Rs 2, good medium CTC were steady and prices of poor CTC tended to ease. Orthodox dust varieties eased by Re 1-Rs 2. Mediums witnessed fair export enquiry. The price of best CTC varieties quoted Rs 63-76, medium CTC fetched Rs 58-62 and below medium was at Rs 47-53. Medium BOPD dust ranged at Rs 47-50 and secondaries were at Rs 41-44. Leaf SaleHigh grown bolder broken varieties and other high priced leaf teas were lower by Rs 2-4. Orthodox broken remained steady. Fannings eased by Rs 2-5 and whole leaf grades were steady. Medium orthodox varieties witnessed a steady market. High priced CTC eased by Re 1-Rs 3, medium CTC were steady while CTC fannings witnessed good demand and were occasionally dearer. Exporters were fairly active at the auction. Best Nilgiri varieties quoted Rs 85-95, medium orthodox was at Rs 58-80 and plain orthodox quoted Rs 48-55. Best CTC leaf quoted Rs 53-56 and medium CTC ranged at Rs 51-55.
