Kochi, April 4 The Bangalore-based Crafts and Weaves, which was formed to preserve the country’s traditional forms and provide a livelihood for the artisans, is organising a Rajasthan Craft Fair here at the Ernakulam Women’s Association Hall.

The 10-day fair that commenced on Friday is exhibiting handicrafts, handlooms, stones, wood carvings, wooden toys, hand embroidery materials, Hyderabad pearls etc.

The proprietors of Crafts and Weaves, Mr Savan Kumar and Mr N. Nagendra, said at a press meet that the firm has been set up to pay attention for development, promotion and marketing of the artistic handicrafts and handlooms and preserve the cultural heritage and the traditional character.

The products are marketed through a network of Crafts and Weaves showroom and exhibitions are conducted in various parts of the country. Artisans and weavers can sell their products to the customers without middlemen with meagre margin.

Crafts and Weaves is also participating in the international trade fair to assess the demand for handloom and handicrafts products and explore the possibility of entering in the export market, they said. Indian handicrafts and handlooms have made a name for themselves the world over.
