Relief effort under way

Awaits debt details: Fishermen at work in the backwaters in Cherai near Kochi. The Fisheries Department has launched an effort to collect details of the fish workers’ debt in the wake of the Fishermen’s Debt Relief Bill taken up in the Assembly and the Union Government’s plan to waive loans. The figure was initially put at Rs 424 crore, which was later increased by Rs 100 crore.
