Radio/TV Discovery Channel on India Chennai: How did India come to be? Who were the first Indians? Can they be traced? How did the world’s first civilisation vanish? Discovery Channel has answer for all this and more. These are the questions that lay at the heart of the channels new series – The Story of India. The series, according to Mr Rajiv Bakshi, Director, Discovery Networks India, is a chronological history of India, that reveals the wonders of the country, the diversity and richness of its people and their culture. A snapshot preview shown to the media during the launch ceremony here on Friday, says that our ancestors first walked out of Africa some 70,000 years ago, around the shores of the Arabian Sea and down into South India. Narrated by historian Mr Michael Wood, the six-episode series will be aired on every Wednesday at 8 p.m. starting April 16. — Our Bureau More Stories on : Radio/TV
