Entertainment & Leisure Web Extras - Education European varsity recognition for Toonz Academy courses Our Bureau Thiruvananthapuram, April 4 Animation training courses offered by Toonz Academy, a subsidiary of Toonz Entertainment, will now be recognised by the Brussels-based European Carolus Magnus University. Announcing this at a press conference in the city on Friday, Mr P. Jayakumar, CEO, Toonz Entertainment, said that 2D and 3D animation courses offered by Toonz Academy will be affiliated to the European Carolus Magnus University. The two organisations will jointly issue certificates to students completing the animation courses offered by Toonz Academy. The certificates will fulfil the requirements of a European Vocational Qualification and offer international recognition to the courses run by Toonz Academy, he added. Demand for animatorsThe National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) estimates that India requires over 50,000 animators, Mr Jayakumar said. However, the country has only around 15,000 animators, thus creating significant demand for trained animators, he pointed out. Besides equipping students for jobs in India, the association between Toonz and the European Carolus Magnus University opens up international employment options for students of Toonz, he added. European Carolus Magnus University is sponsored by the European Economic Chamber of Trade, Commerce and Industry, explained Ms Anita Singh Matharu, President-India, European Economic Chamber of Trade, Commerce and Industry. The partnership between the two organisations will also open up possibilities for student exchange programmes, she added.
Toonz Academy, which currently has a presence in six cities including Thiruvananthapuram, New Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad, plans to open training centres in Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Indore very soon, said Mr S. Ramaprasad, Executive Director, Toonz Academy. The company also plans to start animation training centres in West Asia, Africa and China. The company has already signed MoUs with Chinese universities to start training centres in China, Mr Jayakumar pointed out. As part of this deal, 50 Chinese students are expected to come to India to be trained at the Toonz Academy in Thiruvananthapuram, he added. More Stories on : Entertainment & Leisure | Education
