Hyderabad, April 4 MBD Alchemie, the e-learning venture of the Rs 1,000-crore MBD Group, is set to invest about Rs 100 crore in expanding its e-learning consultancy services and solutions for various segments covering schools, colleges and customised corporate learning.

The company has partnered with IBM to deliver online educational content and plans to jointly pitch for State educational projects.

The Senior Executive Director of the MBD group, Ms Monica Malhotra Kandhari, told Business Line that the company is in parleys with several State Governments and expects to partner with them in some of their e-learning initiatives.

“The group’s foray into e-learning was a logical step and draws upon experience of over 40 years in sale of books for education and other segments. We now expect to offer these courses via both online and offline computer based training,” she said.

The content is also customised for corporate houses and the platform developed and hosted by IBM and backed by the latter’s data centre, will be useful to roll out similar services in West Asia and South East Asia, she said.

The Indian e-learning market is poised for significant upside as more computers get connected to the Internet. The company is investing in centres to create customised learning content and consulting services targeted at not just the educational sector, where the company addresses the need for over 20 States, but also for companies in retail business and technology sector, she said.
