Spot rubber gains on supply fears

Kottayam, April 5 Spot rubber rose on supply concerns in the weekend session. RSS 4 improved to Rs 107 from Rs 106 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi as covering groups continued to remain in the buyers queue.

On NMCE, the April futures managed to finish in green at Rs 106.50 (106.33) and May at Rs 108.57 (108.34) a kg while the distant month June slipped to Rs 109.20 (109.32) and July to Rs 109.12 (109.38) a kg for RSS 4. The open interest was 4,762 (4,694) tonnes with 1,832 (1,853) tonnes in April, 1,879 (1,844) tonnes in May, 729 (718) tonnes in June and 322 (279) tonnes in July.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 107 (106); RSS-5: 105.50 (103); ungraded: 103.25 (102.25); ISNR 20: 104 (102.50) and latex 60 per cent: 72 (71).
